REVIEW OF CANYON VIEW SCHOOL OGDEN, UT

1100 Orchard Ave Ogden, UT 84404

This playground is at a special education school in Weber School District for kids 3-22 years old that may need more support or services than the local schools. There are 2 separate playgrounds at this school and a separate basketball court behind the school with benches in a shaded area.

The first playground is located the the North end of the school and is fenced in on 2 sides. It has two separate play structures with slides, an overhead glide and a curved tunnel.

While I couldn't find any stickers on the play structures my best guess is that both structures are rated for 5-12 years old.

One thing that is different about this playground is that there are sand toys. In the corner of the playground there is an outdoor plastic bin full of sand toys and Tonka trucks for the kids to play with. My preschoolers were thrilled to find this and really enjoyed the toys.

While we were there we also saw a steam roller laying down new asphalt for the basketball hoops next to the playground.

Not far away from the other playground is a second sand based playground with an older metal climbing frame that looks like a bug. There is a "buddy bench" at the playground but there is no bench at the first playground.

Behind the school there is a second basketball court and some benches and picnic tables.

We visited during summer 2019.  It looked like all the benches were piled up together while school was out, so I don't know exactly where they are located during the school year.

Pros:

- partially fenced playground

- sand toys and Tonka trucks at playground

- benches

Cons:

- playgrounds not wheelchair accessible

- no public restrooms

- only available during evenings, weekends and summer while school is not in session.

- no shade on playgrounds
