This is a wood chip based playground in a sports park in West Haven, UT. Park amenities include a wheelchair accessible play structure, swings, rock wall/slide, tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer/football field with bleachers, baseball diamonds and restrooms.
There are swings at this park, but unfortunately most of them were broken, damaged or at the wrong height when we went to the park. We did report the damage to the parks department and were informed that the swings, including a new toddler swing were on order.
Next to the swings there is a horseshoe shaped rock climbing wall. Inside the rock wall there is a slide. My preschoolers found this especially fun.
There is a large wheelchair accessible play structure at the playground with a wheelchair ramp with access from the sidewalks. On the structure there are lots of learning and sensory panels.
Unfortunately, there was also vandalism/damage on the play structure too. The clear dome panel was almost completely broken out and one of the handles over the slide was missing screws so it turned down.
Right next to the playground there were restrooms. There is also a bench next the restroom building that is shaded during the day.
This park has a connecting sidewalk to the local elementary West Haven Elementary. We liked the close proximate so we could play at both places.
Pros:
- large wheelchair accessible play structure with ramp
- fun rock climbing wall with "hidden" slide
- restrooms right next to playground
- shaded bench
Cons:
- swings all broken or at the wrong height
- damage on the play structure
- no shade on playground
- no adaptive swing
Why doesn't westhaven have an aquatics center like most of the surrounding communities. They could have reduced fees for residents(clearfield, roy). Why hasn't this been proposed. Seniors would welcome it. Thank you
