REVIEW OF MUNICIPAL PARK ROY, UT

2275 W 5900 S Roy, UT 84067

This is a wood chip based playground located at a park in Roy, Utah. Park amenities include play structure, overhead glider, swings, metal climbing tower, covered picnic tables, tennis courts, basketball court, ball fields, paved walking trail, parking lot and restrooms.

This park is directly next to Municipal Elementary. This park is used for school recess, but you CAN use the park any time of day whether school kids are playing there or not according to Roy City.

The playground features a large play structure is most likely rated for 2-12 year olds but better suited for 5-12 year olds because of the higher elements. The play structure has multiple slides including 1 small toddler slide, rock climbing walls, plastic rock stairs, bridge, steering wheels and stairs for access.

The toddler side has a small slide and 2 steering wheels side by side.

Next to the play structure there is a climbing tower with a platform high up and a fireman pole in the middle. It is rated for 5-12 year olds. My preschooler climbed on the platform but could not figure out how to get down and needed assistance.

On the platform there are some rock climbing walls. These are similar to the ones at Victory Park in Washington Terrace, UT.

Note you can climb from the rock wall on to the structure or stand on the platform on the back side of the wall. There is a gap between the rock wall and the metal structure where it might not be safe for toddlers.

Next to the play structure is a curved balance beam and circular hanging disk as well as stepping stones.

There are room for 6 regular swings at this park but currently only 5 regular swings.
There are no infant/toddler swings at the park.

Near the parking lot there are tennis courts and covered picnic tables.

There is a paved walking path that goes around Municipal park as well as a basketball court behind the elementary school.

Directly in front of the playground there are two additional covered picnic tables and trash cans.

Pros:

- walking path circles the park and does not intersect with the parking lot

- lots of climbing elements in playground

- restrooms available

- still open for public during school hours

Cons:

- playground not wheelchair accessible

- not any shade on playground during the day
