REVIEW OF BARKER PARK, NORTH OGDEN, UT

2475 Fruitland Dr. North Ogden, UT 84414

Barker Park a small playground with a hidden metal piano, lots of open grassy space, covered picnic tables, restrooms and a brand new amphitheater.

This was our first time at this park. I really liked the metal piano and the animal eye spy game, which are unique. While my boys enjoyed this park, I'm not sure if we will visit it very often. After about 15 minutes they were both ready to go. I can see that this would be a great place to burn off some extra energy if you were attending an event at the amphitheater, but without any shade it and no other kids it doesn't seem very appealing, at least to preschoolers.

Pros:

- Small Little Tikes playground (similar to Wadman Park in North Ogden) that is in good working condition.

- Adequate wood chip base with concrete edging to keep all the wood chips in

- Little pictures of animals (kind of like an eye spy) underneath play structure

- Metal piano underneath the play structure at ground level that teaches kids how to play four different songs. The metal piano is shaded by the structure and a nice hide-a-way for shy kids

- Plastic "rock steps" have a hand rail to help younger kids climb.

- Small counter/window on ground level underneath play structure for pretend play.

-Surrounding grass and restrooms are well maintained and easily accessed in the summer.

- Lots of grassy areas to run and play in.

- Nearby picnic table in pavilion with a trash can.

 - Adequate parking in lot and not on a busy street

 - Brand new amphitheater for local shows and music.

Cons:

- Very small play structure

- Only 1 park bench

- No shade on playground

- Telescope/parascope was not functioning, dirty and filled with wood chips
