REVIEW OF MOUNT OGDEN PARK, OGDEN, UT

Mount Ogden Park, Ogden, UT
3144 Taylor Ave Ogden, UT 84403

This is a big park in Ogden that has a playground, pickleball courts, tennis courts, large ball fields, covered pavilion and restrooms. This playground is rated for 5-12 year olds but there is a couple toddler slides and mostly lower elements. The only major fall hazards I saw were the fireman's pole drop off next to the rock wall and a curved climbing access, both not over 5 feet. Most of the kids we saw on the playground were under 4 years old and some under 2 playing by themselves on the structure.

When we arrived at the park around lunchtime on a Monday there were a couple groups of moms and preschools at the park already on the playground. I visited with two moms and kids ranging from 2-5 years old. All of the kids had fun and were able to explore the park. The kids also enjoyed finding sticks in the park and wandering around the trees.

The first thing my kids noticed was the bottom of the climbing wall looked like a dinosaur fossil "a dinosaur cave". One of the preschoolers spent a considerable amount of time studying the dinosaur and hiding in the cave during our park trip.

Another fun element to this playground is on one of the landings there is a panel that shows how to sign the alphabet in American sign language.

Pros:

- wood chip surfaced playground suitable for most ages with toddler slides, bigger steep and twisty slides, a "rock" wall to climb on and a fun cave like area for pretend play

- large parking lot and lots of on street parking

- lots of grassy area for kids to run around

- partially fenced playground with fencing along the street side and some of the parking lot

- amenities available like covered pavilion, barbecue grills and restrooms

Cons:

- no swings

- no separate toddler area

- some graffiti on the dinosaur drawing in permanent marker
