REVIEW OF SOUTH OGDEN FRIENDSHIP PARK, SOUTH OGDEN, UT

5500 S 650 E, South Ogden, UT 84405

This is a fun colorful playground in a large park in South Ogden near H. Guy Child Elementary school and the Pleasant Valley library branch. This park has a playground with a wood chip base, ball fields, tennis courts, a large covered pavilion with 30 picnic tables (yes really), restrooms, an asphalt walking track that circles the park and a large parking lot.

We visited the park on a sunny day around noon on a Monday with a friend with boys similar to my boys ages. We did not see anyone else in the park while we were there. The neighboring elementary school had kids out at recess and they were near the playground (no fence between the school and park) but were not using this playground.

There was no age rating on this playground, but it is of the more toddler friendly parks we have visited recently. There are a few open panels, but the highest drop off is about 3 feet. The taller straight slides and twisty slides do not have a fireman's pole at the top, which I actually really like. I was able to let my 2 and 4 year olds play by themselves on the structure and I watched from the ground.

I also appreciate that there are four swing bays on the playground, two regular and two infant/toddler swings. One of the toddler swings is just a half seat with the front open. My two year old loved that one the best. Unfortunately one of the regular swings was missing (and we will report this).

One of the fun learning things we liked on the playground was the panel that showed 9 different states with capitols and flags.

My kids also enjoyed the colorful tunnels that connected the elements.

Pros:

- large colorful playground with tunnels and lots of slides

- playground is toddler friendly with drop offs only 3 feet off ground

- both regular and infant/toddler swings at playground

- covered pavilion and restrooms available (but restrooms are closed and locked during the winter months)

- large ball fields and lots of grass to run and play

- large parking lot

Cons:

- playground not wheelchair accessible

- no adaptive swings for special needs

- regular swing missing at time of visit
