REVIEW OF CITY HALL PARK, MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE, UT

1570 W 400 N Marriott-Slaterville, UT 84404

This is a playground in Marriott-Slaterville next to the city buildings with a tall play structure rated for 5-12 years, small concrete walking path, covered picnic tables, restrooms and a large grass area.

The main play structure is large and fairly new with lots of tall slides, rock wall for climbing, high walkways, a tunnel, mix and match animals, steering wheel and sensory knobs on ground level. The entire playground has a wood chip base with a short concrete surrounding to keep the chips in.

There is a shorter area off the side with a small slide and steps for younger kids.

I really like the sensory knobs and dials on ground level that kids can access under the play structure.

There is a shaded bench on the playground (not shown in pictures) that backs up to restroom building. Otherwise, there is no shade on the playground.

Past the playground there is a large grass area and a concrete path that extends from the parking lot to the pavilion with covered picnic tables. The picnic tables can be reserved through the Marriott-Slaterville city offices or by phone. The path circles the pavilion.

There is power outlets in the pavilion, but I do not know if it is on all the time or only with a reservation.

One of the biggest drawbacks to this park is the open water channel maybe 50 feet from the playground. The channel separates the park from Toad's Fun Center, but there is an access bridge past the playground. There is no fencing around the water on either side. So this may be a danger to small children or children that like to wander.

Pros:

- tall, newer playground great for kids 5-12 yrs old

- elements on ground level and smaller slide for younger children

- large parking lot

- pavilion and picnic tables are accessible with concrete path from parking lot

- restrooms

Cons:

- open water channel close to playground without fencing

- no shade on playground

- playground not wheelchair accessible
