REVIEW OF BROWNING PARK OGDEN, UT

4965 S 1500 E Ogden, UT 84403

This is a wood chip based playground at a park in Ogden, UT. While it is still considered a public park, the neighboring elementary school Shadow Valley Elementary uses this playground for recess. According to Weber School District, the public is still ALLOWED to play at this park during school hours, whether or not there are school children present.

Park amenities include a play structure, swings, bench,  covered picnic tables and restrooms.

The play structure is small but features 3 different slides, curved metal walkways, chain ladder, stairs and vertical ladders for access and a set of the metal "telephones". I can assume it is rated for 2-12 year olds and not solely 2-5 yrs old because of the height.

There are a few fun play panels on the structure including the front of a police car, measurement conversions, and a height chart (that starts at 5.5 feet).

A fun feature I haven't seen before at other local parks is the animal motif on the small slide. Younger kids might enjoy looking at this and naming the animals.

Next to the play structure there are 12 covered picnic tables, garbage cans and a set of restrooms.

There is wheelchair access to the restrooms and the picnic tables with sidewalks but no access on the playground.

Pros:

- Swings

- lots of grass area to play on or picnic

- some small trees spread throughout the park

- restrooms next to playground

- neighboring playground at elementary school

Cons:

- no wheelchair access on playground or ground level elements

- closed for public use during school hours
