REVIEW OF COUNTRY VIEW ELEMENTARY, WEST HAVEN, UT

4800 S 4650 W Ogden, UT 84401

There are two sand/gravel based playgrounds at this Weber School District elementary school. Playground amenities include monkey bar course, play structure, black top area and grass field.

Playground #1

The first playground is located to the side of the school to the East. This playground has a sand/gravel base and is right next to the black top area.

This playground features a platform with a chain ladder, a short ladder and a fireman pole, a monkey bar course, another platform with a curved ladder, fireman pole and parallel sliding bars, more monkey bars and an overhead glider.

This playground is most likely rated for 5-12 year olds. This isn't a toddler friendly playground and does not have any stairs or slides. My 3 and 5 year olds both had trouble getting on the platforms by themselves and didn't stay long before leaving this play structure.

To the side of the school before the playground there are basketball hoops and black top line games

Playground #2

The second playground is located behind the school to the North side. This playground is on a sand/gravel base and is surrounded by a short metal chain link fence with a latching gate.

This playground is shorter and most likely used for the younger grade school kids. It has a few toddler friendly elements and most of the platforms are under 4 foot tall.

The play structure features multiple slides, curved climber, turning letter panel, corkscrew climber, bubble dome, monkey bars and stairs for access.

As you can see in this picture, this playground is partially shaded by a small tree. The main structure also has a large dome top for some additional shade.

Next to this playground (outside the fence) there is a metal dome on a sand/gravel base. Of all the things to play on at this school, this was the only thing my young kids really enjoyed.

Pros:

- 3 separate play areas for lots of kids

- lots of grass areas

Cons:

- no public restrooms

- no public access during school hours

- older playgrounds that are well worn (but still useful)

- no wheelchair access on playgrounds
