UPDATED REVIEW OF 40TH STREET PARK, OGDEN, UT

550 40th Street, South Ogden, UT 84403

This is a wood chip based playground at a park in South Ogden, UT. Park amenities include multiple play structures, swings, tennis courts, basketball courts, covered picnic tables, bbq grills, large grass field and restrooms.

(Be aware that the neighboring Wasatch Christian School uses this playground for their elementary recesses. You are allowed to play along side the school children at any time and there is no restricted access.)

We love that there are tons of slides at this park. Curvy slides, straight slides, tunnel slides, toddler slides. Basically all the slides.

The park also features lots of different types of swings. There are 4 regular swings, two toddler bucket swings and a single swing that sways back and forth on a rope with 4 posts. We would have liked to see an accessible or disability swing, but there is none.

There are LOTS of things to climb on including hexagon cubes, circular lattice climbers, a tree structure and lots of plastic stump stepping stones.

There are also a few music elements scattered throughout the structure like the xylophone

There is also a separate (but tiny) slide rated for 2-5 yr olds.

A fun feature at the park is the Nature Hunt panel. All around the park these colorful animals are hidden on the play structures in the park. Make it an adventure to find them all.

Let's not forget the other important park amenities. This park has bathrooms right off the playground, as well as fenced in tennis courts, basketball courts, a large grass field, covered pavilion with picnic tables (reservable on the city website) and bbq grills.

Overall, this park is a HUGE improvement over the existing playground. We love all the new and fun features of this park and really feel that South Ogden has overall the best parks in Weber County collectively with their new Burch Creek park and continued refurbishments over the last few years. If there is one thing this park is missing it is inclusive elements, especially for kids with disabilities.

Pros:

New park with lots of climbing and swinging elements

Separate elements for 2-5 yr old and elements on ground level

nearby restrooms

Cons:

Playground is not wheelchair accessible

No benches surrounding the park other than the picnic tables

Not a lot of shade
