REVIEW OF NEW BRIDGE ELEMENTARY, OGDEN, UTAH

2150 Jefferson Ave Ogden, Utah 84401

There are three playgrounds at this Ogden City School District elementary school with lots of inclusive features. Playground amenities include a fenced basketball court, blacktop games like four square and hopscotch, bike racks, wheelchair accessible merry go round, metal balance board, spinning chair,  rain sensory tube, swings, and three separate play areas including a play structure rated for 2-5 year olds.

There is a playground for the kindergarteners rated for 2-5 year olds near the school. It has a rubber tile surface, a play structure and a spinning chair and a standing spinner.

The second playground is for older kids rated for 5-12 year olds with lots of climbing and spinning elements. It is on a rubber tile surface.

The third playground has more traditional slides, spinners, swings and sensory items like s rain tube, and a maze balance board.

This swing is really interesting because the top bar sways with the swing and it has springs attached to the top. It is a feeling different from traditional swings. My kids thought it was great and spent a lot of time on it.

This playground is made by Kompan, a Danish company. Kompan playgrounds are very popular in Europe and use a lot of wood or metal elements instead of plastic components popular in the US.

In the middle of the playground is an accessible merry go round that can accommodate 2 wheelchairs. It is the only item in a large square of rubber tiles and is pretty far from the playgrounds.

Overall, I really love this playground. Is is unique with many elements like the metal sensory items, completely contained behind fences and lots of room to run and play.

You can see Liberty Park, a public Ogden City park, across the fence and you can access it from the playground with a set of stairs.
