UPDATED REVIEW OF ORCHARD PARK, OGDEN, UT

3250 Jefferson Ave Ogden, UT 84403

In 2023/2024 Ogden City renovated Orchard Park and put in a new playground. If you are curious what the old playground looked like, you can find our older review from 2018 here. This is not a traditional slide and ramp playground, and as you can see in the pictures, there are no slides. This playground features a ropes course, a pyramid rope climber, adult exercise equipment and 3 different types of swings. The park also features 2 large covered pavilions with barbecue grills, a drinking fountain and restrooms.

This piece of equipment features 10 different workout stations in one. On each piece of equipment there is a small sign that shows you how to do the exercise correctly. This equipment is rated for ages 13+.

This playground is manufactured by Kompan. It isn't as popular in the United States as it is in Europe, but new Kompan playgrounds are starting to be built in Weber County. Other Kompan playgrounds can be found at New Bridge Elementary in Ogden and Burch Creek Park in South Ogden. We also visited a fun Kompan owl playground in 2023 in Monaco

There are 3 different (and fun) swings at this park, a generation swing (Kompan calls it a 'you and me swing'), a baby toddler swing and a round disk swing. These are located right next to the restrooms.

Behind the swings is a dip bench and a set of parallel bars.

This exercise portion next to the pavilion features two steps and a square pull up station.

At the East side of the park there is a paved path that leads to an older pavilion with picnic tables and a trash can.

There is a large field to the south of the playground. Half of the park is weeds and piles of dirt? but there is a grassy field and a few new trees.

I visited in early August 2024 on a 100 degree day. The street that leads to the park was blocked off because of road construction, but there was lots of on-street parking. When I visited there were no people at the park and the park had a really strong rotten smell at the park. There were large piles of dirt material next to the field, which I infer may have been manure, but really have no idea.

While I know that some residents don't like the park because it isn't geared towards younger kids, I personally think it is an asset to Ogden City as a free exercise and recreation option for older kids and adults (if people use it). If you are looking for a park geared more towards younger kids with more park amenities like pickle ball courts etc, I suggest the Burch Creek Park in South Ogden about 1.5 miles away.
