PARKS WITH RUNNING/BIKING PATHS

MOUNTAIN VIEW PARK, FARR WEST, UT (0.5 mile paved path)

This is a large paved asphalt (estimated at about 0.5 miles around) that circles the Mountain View Park and playground. Unlike some, it does run along side the parking lot to the south. The track goes up a hill to the North. With the hill and trees that line the path there is not a clear line of sight to the playground. I have been told by a local resident that one of the neighbors that lives next to park does plow the entire track during the winter months so you can walk on it while there is snow. Restrooms are present near the parking lot but closed during the winter.

HARRISVILLE/INDEPENDENCE PARK, HARRISVILLE, UT (0.53 mile paved track)

This is one of our favorite parks. It has a very large half mile paved walking/biking track that goes in a circle that DOES NOT intersect with the parking lot, which is especially nice for younger bike riders or if you are letting your kids bike alone. There is a clear sight of the entire track and benches nearby and facing the track. There is a fence that runs along the outside of the track on 2 1/2 sides. The track is well maintained and mostly free from big cracks. To the west the track wraps around the splash pad (not included in mileage figure) but the narrow sidewalk butts right up to the entrance of the park where cars drive and the parking lot. I am not sure if the circle track is shoveled during the winter months but hope to find out this winter. There are restrooms available during the summer and a parking lot with plenty of parking to the west.

MILLENIUM PARK, HARRISVILLE, UT (0.38 mile paved track)

This is a paved asphalt track with a small playground next to it. The park is fenced on the back and front with openings at each end. There is no parking lot, but lots of on street parking. It is a flat track and there is a clear line of sight to the playground for kids. The track does not intersect with the road.

MCGRIFF PARK, NORTH OGDEN, UT (0.30 mile paved track)

This is a smaller track in a North Ogden neighborhood right below Bates Elementary School. While the street to the north 3100 North is busy especially at pick/up drop off times and in the evenings as cars go to and from the North Ogden divide the side street 900 E isn't very busy. The track is a wide paved track on to of a hill with the playground below. Because of the hill there isn't great line of sight to the playground while running on the track. There is a huge parking lot to park in that shares with a local LDS church and on street parking to the west.

WADMAN PARK, NORTH OGDEN (0.?? mile paved track)

This is a very small walking/biking path that is paved to the north side of the park. The first few times we visited the playground we didn't even notice it since it was up the hill from the soccer fields. It is not very close to the playground and the pavilion and trees obstruct the view of the playground from the track. The track goes around the perimeter of a level single soccer field. When we visited we saw a few walkers but mostly this is used to run dogs in the middle grass field. There are restrooms in the summer and porta-potties during the winter. There is lots of parking next to the track and next to the playground.

ORTON/GREEN ACRES PARK, NORTH OGDEN, UT (0.50 mile paved track)

This also is a great walking/biking path. It is a very large paved track that is raised from the fields in the middle. It shares a fence with the Green Acres Elementary school playground and is visible for most of the track. It is out of the way in a neighborhood and the track does not intersect the parking lot. There is plenty of parking to the west of the park. The smaller playground at the Orton park is not visible from the track hidden behind trees. Restrooms and drinking fountains are available in the summer.

SOUTH OGDEN CITY FRIENDSHIP PARK, SOUTH OGDEN, UT (-.-- mile paved track)

This is a big paved walking track that circles Friendship park. It does intersect with the parking lot, which is not ideal for smaller kids walking or on bikes.

RIVERDALE PARK, RIVERDALE UT (0.5 mile concrete track)

This is a big concrete walking track that the Riverdale Park. This track does intersect the parking lot and you must cross the parking lot to make a full loop. This isn't ideal for younger children or young bike riders. This track does have some shade from mature trees.

GOLDEN SPIKE PARK, RIVERDALE, UT (0.41 mile concrete track)

This is a large concrete walking track (similar to a sidewalk with cracks) that circles the park. This track does not intersect with the parking lot. It is pretty flat and has good visibility to almost the entire track from the playground or baseball diamond. It is in a relatively quiet neighborhood but does back up to the onramps of I-84. I assume that it is fenced from the interstate, but did not notice while we were there. When we visited there were quite a few jets flying overhead from the Air Force base.

COUNTRY PARK, WEST HAVEN, UT (0.44 mile paved track)
This is a large set of sidewalks (cracks in between concrete panels) that start at the parking lot and circle the playground and other elements in the park. The track is almost completely flat and has good visibility to the entire track.

EMMA RUSSELL PARK, ROY, UT (--.-- mile paved track)
This sidewalk concrete track circles the park and borders the road and parking lot. The sidewalks also circle the playground and there is a sidewalk that connects the two sides of the park down the center.
