Hillcrest Elementary School in Ogden has a fun play structure, a couple metal vertical climbing frames and separate monkey bars on a wood chip base There are also two black top areas with two basketball hoops each.
On the play structure there is a double slide, a curvy tunnel slide on one side and a smaller double slide on the other next to a window on ground level for pretend play.
There is also a flat tunnel with hand holds and chain ladder.
On ground level there is a mix and match tic tac toe type game. This is great for inclusion of kids that can't use the stairs or access the main playground. It is also nice for smaller toddlers.
This stand alone ladder climber is different than any I have seen in other playgrounds. Past the climber there are also three benches.
Past the playground there is another stand alone ladder climber and separate monkey bars. They seem older than the primary colored structure, but they do add value as more children can use the monkey bars at once for recess use.
While this playground is most likely rated for 5-12 year olds, most of the open panels for corkscrew ladders or poles are not above 4 feet tall. This makes it more toddler friendly, but obviously supervision is still essential for younger children.
Pros:
- Nice sized well maintained playground with lots of access points and different elements
- Elements on ground level including tic tac toe and playhouse
- Different types of slides
- Big areas of blacktop and basketball hoops
- Far away from any parking lots or roads. Partially fenced in.
Cons:
- Not handicap accessible
- No swings
- No public restrooms
- Only accessible during evenings, weekends and summer.*
*Ogden School District does not invite or welcome public use of playgrounds on school property outside of students enrolled in the school during school recess. However, Ogden School District also does not actively restrict access to the school playgrounds outside of the use by school students as described above.
