REVIEW OF ROMWELL PARK, OGDEN, UT

275 4th Street Ogden, UT 84404

This is a handicap accessible playground in a large park in Ogden. The playground has a wood chip base and is accessible from the parking lot as well as 4th street. The playground has a large play structure, 4 swings - 2 regular swings and 2 infant/toddler swings, a  4 sided concrete bench for seating and nearby pavilion, restrooms and large grass field.

This is one of the 11 handicap accessible playground in Ogden City with wheelchair ramps directly to the playground. Although it does have wheelchair access, there isn't much for someone in a wheelchair to do on the structure except for the tic tac toe panel. It is bigger than some, but there are others like George Wahlen North Park in Roy and Liberty Park in Ogden that offer more variety.

The big play structure has 3 different slides including a smaller double slide for toddlers and a tube slide. It has a corkscrew climber and monkey bars. Whether you see it as a good or bad thing, the red twirly slide does not have stairs to it and must be accessed either from the corkscrew or the monkey bars. I would assume because of the configuration this would be rated for kids 2-12 years old.

Next to the play structure there is a set of 4 swings- 2 regular swings and 2 infant toddler swings. All looked to be in working order.

Inside the playground and out of the playground there is plenty of seating for adults. There is a large shade tree in the middle of the playground that is surrounded by a 4 sided concrete bench. Right next to the playground near the parking lot is a covered pavilion with picnic tables. There are also a couple single picnic tables with a roof nearby.

Pros:

- handicap accessible playground with wheelchair ramps

- large grass field nearby

- swings

- big shade tree in playground

- lots of seating

- partially fenced playground with 2 sides

- restrooms nearby

- covered pavilion

- lots of parking

- near 4th street softball park through field

Cons:

- wood chip base is hard to navigate for individuals with mobility issues

- no handicap accessible swings

- not a lot to do on playground on ramps except tic tac toe
