UPDATED REVIEW OF LION'S PARK, WASHINGTON TERRACE, UT

 375 E 4700 S, Washington Terrace, UT 84405

This is a wood chip based playground with two separate areas in a park in Washington Terrace, UT. Park amenities include a play structure rated for 5-12 yr olds, covered picnic tables, swings, two different spinners and a grass area.

Playground #1

The first play structure is a brand new to the park, provided by a RAMP grant in 2020. While it replaced a toddler 2-5 yr old structure, this one does suit a larger age group and may appeal to more people. This structure is rated for 5-12 yr olds, but it does not have any tall open panels or fire poles that would be dangerous to younger toddlers.

One reason we originally liked this playground was because of the 4 foot metal chain link fencing that surrounded the park with a latching gate. It made sense, especially since it was rated as a toddler playground and the park is on the corner of Washington Blvd and 4800 S, across from a high school. It seems that when they replaced the playground the last two fence panels were not installed along with the metal gate (shown to the left of the picture above).

This structure features some unique color sorting and counting panels along with a ground level music elements.

Next to the playground is a covered pavilion with 9 picnic tables and a trash can. The pavilion can be reserved on the city website.

Playground #2

The second playground consists of two regular swings and two spinning elements on a wood chip base. There is no sidewalk or wheelchair access to this playground or any benches surrounding the circle.

Pros:

- separate play areas

- mostly fully fenced playground

- large grass area

Cons:

- no restrooms

- no parking lot for park

- no toddler swings

- no wheelchair access on playgrounds

- no benches in or around playgrounds for adults
